Realismo Magico

Exhibition organized by Gabriella Belli and Valerio Terraroli, hosted at the Palazzo Reale in Milano.
The exhibition Realismo Magico includes one of the famous artwork from the permanent collection of the Galleria d'Arte Moderna in Rome: Donna alla toletta (1930) by Antonio Donghi (inv. AM 805).
The chronological-philological itinerary of the visit aims to provide a precise reconstruction of Realismo Magico, a trend in Italian art in the fifteen years between 1920 and 1935. Maurizio Fagiolo dell'Arco had already curated the last exhibition on the subject at Palazzo Reale in 1986: after thirty years of uninterrupted study, characterised by a gradual rediscovery of the individual protagonists of this cultural climate, this emblematic exhibition compares the Italian masterpieces of Magic Realism with those of Sarfatti's Novecento movement and the German New Objectivity.
